Ap Runner (“we”) provides the mobile application “Lokmo” (the “App”) for Android. The App lets you write a memo, style it, place it on a background or one of your photos, and set the result as your lock screen wallpaper, so the memo stays on your lock screen without notifications. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App, including the advertising and in-app purchases the App offers.
1. Summary
Your memos and photos stay on your device. Memos are written, drawn, and set as your wallpaper entirely on your device. The App does not send your memos or photos to us or to anyone else, and we have no server that receives them. If you have turned on Android’s backup, Android may include them in your own Google account backup (see section 7).
There is no account registration and no login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or address.
Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect the advertising ID and device information. Ad services never receive your memos or your photos.
Purchases are processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment card or billing details.
2. Information We Collect
Personally identifiable information
The App does not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, address, phone number, or email address. The App has no account registration and no login, and we operate no server that receives data from the App.
Information collected for advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is operated by Google and, when it serves an ad, it may automatically collect the following. This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us; we never receive it in a form that identifies you.
Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / AAID)
Device information (OS version, device model, language settings)
Approximate location derived from IP address
Ad interaction data such as impressions and clicks
Advertising data is never combined with your memos, your photos, or anything else the App stores on your device.
Information related to purchases
When you make an in-app purchase, the payment is handled by Google Play. The App receives only the result needed to unlock the purchased features, such as the product purchased, the transaction status, and the purchase date. See section 8 for details.
3. Your Memos and the Lock Screen
Writing memos. The text you write, its style (font, colors, frame, size), its position, and the state of checklist items are stored only on your device. The App does not upload them to us or to any third party.
Setting the lock screen wallpaper. When you tap the lock button, the App draws your memo and its background into an image on your device and sets it as your lock screen wallpaper through Android’s wallpaper service. This uses the “set wallpaper” permission, which Android grants without a prompt. The App does not change your home screen wallpaper. When you edit a memo that is on your lock screen, the App redraws the wallpaper on your device.
Countdowns redrawn each day. If the memo on your lock screen has a countdown (for example “12 days to go”), the App redraws the wallpaper on your device shortly after the date changes, so the number of days stays current even when the App is not open. To do this, the App asks Android to wake it once the date has changed. This plays no sound and shows no notification or prompt. The App also uses the “run at startup” permission (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED), which Android grants without a prompt, to set up the daily redraw again after your device restarts, and it redraws when your device’s date, time, or time zone changes. Redrawing happens entirely on your device and sends nothing. The daily redraw stops when the memo on your lock screen no longer has a countdown, when you take the memo off the lock screen, or when you uninstall the App. Depending on your device’s battery settings, the redraw may be delayed; opening the App brings it up to date.
Visible to anyone who sees your phone. A memo on your lock screen can be read without unlocking your device. Please avoid putting passwords, personal numbers, or other sensitive information in a memo you place there.
Removing it from the lock screen. “Take off the lock screen” clears the App’s lock screen wallpaper, and your lock screen then shows the same wallpaper as your home screen. Because Android does not let apps read your previous lock screen wallpaper, the App cannot read, copy, or restore it.
Reading the screen size. To draw the wallpaper at the correct size, the App reads your screen size and how much your device enlarges wallpapers. This is used only for drawing. The screen size is kept on your device so that a countdown can be redrawn while the App is closed, and it is never sent.
Saving as an image. When you choose “Save as image”, the App saves the memo as a PNG image in the “Pictures/Lokmo” folder of your device. It does not read, change, or delete other items in your photo library. The saved image is newly drawn by the App and carries no metadata such as location.
4. Photos
You can use one of your photos as the background of a memo. How it is handled:
Choosing a photo. You choose a photo with the picker provided by the operating system. The App can read only the photo you choose, not the rest of your library. The App does not use the camera or the microphone.
Keeping a copy in the App. So that your memo keeps its background even if you later delete the original from your gallery, the App keeps a copy of the chosen photo in its own private storage, reduced to at most 2,560 pixels on each side. The App removes location metadata (where the photo was taken) from this copy. The copy is deleted when no memo uses it any longer. The App does not modify the original photo.
Placing a memo behind the subject (optional). If you turn on this effect, the App finds the main subject of the photo (for example a person, an animal, or an object) so that the memo can be drawn behind it. This uses Google’s ML Kit Subject Segmentation and runs entirely on your device, in a separate process of the App. The model is downloaded by Google Play services; your photo is not sent. The result (a mask of the subject’s shape) is stored next to the photo copy in the App’s private storage. The App does not perform face recognition and does not identify people.
ML Kit diagnostics. As described in Google’s ML Kit data disclosure, ML Kit may send Google limited diagnostic and usage information, such as the device model, OS version, the App’s package name, and performance metrics, to maintain and improve the service. According to Google, this does not include your photos, the detected subject, or your memo text.
5. Network Use
Writing memos and setting them as your lock screen wallpaper work entirely offline. The App connects to the internet only for the following:
Advertising. Communication performed by Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform, as described in sections 2 and 9.
Purchases. Communication with Google Play to buy, verify, and restore purchases.
Subject detection model and diagnostics. Download of the Subject Segmentation model by Google Play services, and the ML Kit diagnostics described in section 4.
Links you tap. Opening a store page or this policy, sharing the App with a friend, or writing an email to us hands the address or text to your browser, store app, the app you share to, or your mail app, which then applies its own privacy policy. An email started from the App’s Settings is prefilled with the App’s version, your device model, and your Android version, to help us answer; you can delete them before sending.
6. Purpose of Use
To let you write memos and show them on your lock screen, and to keep countdowns on it up to date
To keep your memos, photos, and settings when you return to the App
To place a memo behind the subject of a photo when you turn this on
To deliver and display advertisements within the App
To measure ad performance and detect invalid clicks
To provide purchased features and restore purchases
To respond to your inquiries
To improve the quality of the App and fix defects
7. Data Stored on Your Device
The following is stored on your device, is not sent by the App to us or to any third party, and is deleted when you uninstall the App:
Your memos: their text, style, position, background, the state of checklist items, and countdown dates
Copies of the photos you chose as backgrounds, and the subject masks described in section 4
Which memo is currently on your lock screen
The screen size last used to draw the wallpaper, and whether a countdown needs redrawing each day (section 3)
Whether hints and guides have already been shown
The language you chose in Settings
Your advertising consent choices
Purchase status, so that purchased features work offline
The undo history is kept in memory only and is discarded when you close the App. You can delete a memo at any time from the memo list, and the photo copy it used is deleted with it. There is no account and no sign-in, so nothing you do in the App is linked to you.
If you have turned on Android’s backup, Android may include the App’s data in your device backup to your Google account, so that your memos can be restored on a new device. This backup is performed by Google under your account settings; we cannot access it. You can turn it off in your device settings.
8. In-App Purchases
The App may offer in-app purchases that remove ads or unlock additional features. The price, contents, and whether a purchase is one-time or recurring are shown in the App and on Google Play before you buy.
Payment is processed by Google Play under your Google account. We never receive or store your payment card number, billing address, or other payment details.
To unlock purchased features, the App receives the purchase information provided by Google Play (product, transaction ID, and purchase date) and stores the result on your device.
You can restore previous purchases on a new or reinstalled device with “Restore purchases” in the App, using the same Google account.
Refunds and the management of any subscription are handled by Google Play according to its policies.
For users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, and where otherwise required by law, the App requests consent for personalized advertising through Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can review and change your consent choices at any time with “Ad privacy settings” in the App’s Settings, which appears wherever consent is required. If you do not consent, the App still works in full and ads are shown without personalization; only the relevance of the ads changes.
Data controller
For the limited information the App itself handles, the controller is Ap Runner (contact details in section 16). Google acts as an independent controller for the data it collects through AdMob and the User Messaging Platform, under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Ads Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms.
Legal basis (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) for storing and reading information on your device for advertising and for personalized advertising, including the use of your advertising ID. You give or refuse this consent in the consent message the App shows before it first displays ads. No ads are requested before you have answered it.
Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) for showing non-personalized or limited ads where you have not consented, and for measuring ad delivery and detecting fraud and invalid clicks. Our interest is to keep the App free of charge. You can object to this at any time by contacting us.
Writing memos, setting the lock screen wallpaper, on-device storage of your memos and photos, and subject detection involve no processing of personal data by us, as everything stays on your device.
Refusing or withdrawing consent never limits writing memos or showing them on your lock screen.
International transfers
Google may process advertising data outside your country, including in the United States. Google relies on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) and on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses to protect such transfers.
Retention
Data stored on your device (section 7), including your consent choices, stays there until you delete it or uninstall the App. Advertising data collected by Google is retained according to Google’s retention policy. We keep emails you send us only as long as needed to answer them.
10. Opting Out of the Advertising ID
Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → “Delete advertising ID” or “Reset advertising ID” (menu names may vary by device)
11. Provision to Third Parties
We do not provide user information to third parties, except where disclosure is required by law. The App uses the following third-party services; please refer to their policies for how they handle data:
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information has been collected, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address in section 16.
13. Your Rights
Because the App has no account and no server of ours, we hold no personal data about you that we could look up, export, or delete on request. You remain in control of everything the App touches:
Delete memos from the memo list, remove the memo from your lock screen with “Take off the lock screen”, or remove everything by uninstalling the App.
Withdraw or change your advertising consent at any time with “Ad privacy settings” in the App’s Settings, and reset or delete your advertising ID as described in section 10.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, objection, or portability regarding data held by the advertising or payment providers. Because that data is held by Google rather than by us, please exercise those rights through the links in sections 8 and 11, or contact us at the address in section 16 and we will help where we can. We do not sell your personal information.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority of your country of residence or work.
14. Security
We take appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or leakage of the information handled by the App. Your memos and photos stay in the App’s private storage on your device, and communication with the advertising and store services uses encrypted connections.
15. Changes to This Policy
This Policy may be revised due to changes in laws or in the App’s features. The revised policy takes effect once posted on this page, and the date below is updated at the same time. Where a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will notify you in the App and seek your consent again if the law requires it.
